Enrichment can take place Monday through Thursday inclusive, but not on Friday's. Students are required to attend one session that will end at 4pm. These sessions are activities closely linked to the curriculum.

There are also exciting optional sessions such as School Band, Drama, Technology and Enterprise which students can choose to take part in extra sessions. In the last week of each term there will be a variety of Inter-House Challenges, as well as whole school activities such as Business and Enterprise days and an assessment and testing programme. This is known as Enrichment. There are also catch up lessons, study and exam preparation session for students as they need them.

For social and mentoring purposes, students are divided into four Houses, identified by a name and colour. Each House will be led by a senior member of staff and supported by a House Manager. Students will stay in the same House throughout their whole time in the Academy. Our Form Tutors are responsible for students academic progress across the whole curriculum and will be the key figure in communicating with parents.

The House system offers many opportunities for students to take responsibility, and develop leadership and team-building skills. Each House will have a Council with formal positions of responsibility, such as House Captains, Sports Captains and Art Captains. There will be a huge variety of Inter-House competitions and challenges. There will also be an Academy Council with representatives from all the Houses and a prefect system.

North Liverpool Academy Policies

Bullying
We believe that children have a right to be protected in school from all types of bullying, which we define as: Any form of physical and/or verbal abuse and can take the form of derogatory name-calling; verbal intimidation, social isolation; extortion; physical violence and sexual and racial harassment.

Uniform Policy
All students attending the Academy are expected to wear uniform. Whilst fully appreciating the initial cost of a uniform, we feel that it solves several problems; it provides a smart outfit for five days of the week and helps to ensure that no child need look richer or poorer or different. The Academy is a non religious organisation and welcomes students from any background. Because of this we require that all students follow the strict dress code. We expect parents to support us in the detail as well as the principle of the school uniform. Do not buy anything that is not on the list or specified. We cannot write a list of exclusions. Only what is written here is permitted.

The Year 7s recently competed in the Times Spelling Bee Championship local heat. We came 4th and unfortunately didn't get through to the next round but it was a good effort. Well done to all those who took part.

Last night Merseyside Police held their 2nd annual Youth Engagement Reward & Recognition evening and our brilliant Drama Department and students were nominated to receive an award.

The Academy won an award with the citation reading "In recognition of your outstanding effort, dedication and commitment to the 2010 Act Together Initiative, Inside Justice Week and the City Safe Schools Parliament Event."

This Award was presented by the Assistant Chief Constable Colin Matthews and Chief Executive of the Professional Footballers Association Gordon Taylor.
